Moses Rock to Ellenbrook
Mileage: 18.7 km
Cumulative: 51.9 km
Last night was quite cold but fortunately it was also dry. After hot chocolate and blueberry granola, it was time to head off on our southward journey. There were some beautiful views as we walked along the cliff tops.

We were lucky enough to see dolphins as they swam south through the ocean. They would follow the line of the swell and then jump up through the wave just as it was breaking. A beautiful start to Easter Sunday.

From here, the trail undulated along the cliff tops making the walking fairly straightforward. There was some short beach walks but nothing too long.

The beach walking is tough as your foot sinks with every step making the pace reduce dramatically. There is also usually a steep climb out through the dunes at the end. Like this one.

We made Gracetown for an early lunch. The store there is famous for its pies and I can vouch for this. It also had a very friendly dog which was after my crumbs. The town itself is pretty small and is nestled in the hills around Cowaramup Bay.

After lunch, it was time to head on to Ellenbrook. The trail headed out from town and entered a very dry stretch that was very sandy and arid. It felt very hot with the reflected heat off the sand.

Eventually we reached Ellenbrook Homestead. This was built in the mid-19th century by one of the first settlers to Western Australia. We took a quick look around the homestead and then headed to our campsite at Ellenbrook.

We were one of the first groups there so got our pick of the spots for our tents. The ground is nice and soft and sheltered from the sun and the wind so it should make for a pleasant night’s sleep.
